De-Stress Festivities

The weeks leading up to finals can be a stressful time for students. In an effort to help Scholars learn self-care techniques and implement these strategies into their daily lives, Highland Park High School Schuler staff hosted its annual "De-Stress Fest." During the week of "De-Stress Fest," mentor groups, which pair a freshman Scholar with upperclassmen Scholars, participated in a cooking competition inspired by Chopped. This and other activities promote relationship building across class and allows Scholars to learn from each other. Tune in to the video below if you'd like to see what delicacies Scholars created using their basket items!

You can't have a "De-Stress Fest" without dogs! K9 Reading Buddies, an organization that helps students build skills by reading aloud to dogs, brought some furry friends to the Schuler room. Pictured above is Jazmin playing with one of the K9's.

Scholars participated in a yoga class where they practiced hand stands, meditation, and learned about the importance of gratitude.
Our final event could be considered stressful to some, but still oh so fun! Senior Scholars participated in an escape room to not only put all that they've learned in Schuler to the test, but to celebrate the fact that they've completed their college applications!
